Computer hanging up after RAM upgrade?
October 11th, 2009 Posted by: admin
I recently installed 2 Gigs of crucial DDR2 RAM in my desktop which was an upgrade from 512 and now the computer is locking up all the time. I have run various programs to make sure everything is working properly and still no success. I put in the same kind of memory that is recommended from the user guide also. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

my sis bought some from crucial, and she opened it and removed some sticker on the ram stick, and it wouldnt work, then she put the sticker back on and it started working, so if you removed any stickers on stick of ram, put them back on in the same place they were in.

You should be using only the new sticks - don’t add them to the existing ones. Try running on only one of each to see if perhaps one of them is causing your problem. If both sticks check out , try accessing the BIOS and manually setting the RAM timings, as computers sometimes don’t do the auto-setup of these timings correctly.
